Jeffrey N. Zisselman Announces Volunteer Work with
the Bill Wilson Center for Housing and Support Services for Homeless Youth
Jeffrey Zisselman, local Santa Clara businessman declares volunteering an
important aspect of life philosophy. The Bill Wilson Center for Housing and
Support Services for Homeless Youth assists young people aging out of foster
care.
Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) August 4, 2006 -- Jeffrey N. Zisselman, is President and
CEO of Thornhill Financial Corporation, a local Santa Clara wealth advisory firm
which assists affluent clients in income tax and advanced estate planning
issues. Every day, Jeffrey Zisselman gets to work and does an incredible job for
the people he works for. But these days, Jeff has added on some additional
responsibilities to his already time consuming and busy schedule.
"Every year, millions of people go back to work in September, after labor day
weekend and the end of summer, and they don't even think about what else is
happening in the world around them. Most people engross themselves in their work
and achieve great success. To me, the definition of great success means not only
helping yourself, but helping out your family, friends and local community,"
says the just turned 40 Zisselman.
Zisselman hails from New York, NY and states he was raised to help others. He
comes from a very warm and giving family who not only are charitable givers, but
also hands on volunteers. "My father, Isaac Zisselman, before he passed away,
used to always teach us a good deed done with your bare hands weighs more than
just giving from your wallet," remembers Jeffrey. That's why as soon as he
landed here in Santa Clara he wanted to find an organization that he could
really put his expertise into. With a legal and financial background, who would
be better than Jeffrey N. Zisselman to give advice to homeless youth.
The Bill Wilson Center assists young people aging out of foster care. It's sort
of a gray area when kids are too old for help that they really need, and too
young for the real world. These kids need jobs and also need help and advice on
common things most people take for granted. Getting a job, saving money, and
spending money wisely is not something you learn in school or in most foster
care situations. The Bill Wilson Center focuses on this deserving population and
keeps them out of trouble.
According to a 1999 study of youth in foster care in San Diego, (A Welfare
Reform: Homelessness-Foster Care Connection, Home for the Homeless, New York
1999), approximately one-third of foster children become dependent on welfare.
In addition, foster children are more likely to become homeless as adults.
Jeffrey N. Zisselman knows he can help and that's why he got involved.
"I feel I bring a lot to the table considering not only my professional
background, but my personal love for fitness and long distance running in
particular. I think its really encouraging to these kids not only to see a
professional but also to see someone with other interests out of the work
place." Zisselman is a firm believer in not only working on your education and
mind, but also your physical and social self. Jeff adds, "In order to be a
complete healthy person, you really need to work on the whole being, not just
one aspect of life."
The Bill Wilson Center is committed to working with the community to ensure that
every youth has access to the variety of services needed to grow to be healthy
and self-sufficient adults. Through the years, Bill Wilson Center has helped
youth make positive changes in their lives. With an emphasis on youth
development, Bill Wilson Center programs focus on building self-confidence and
developing personal assets. With these tools, youth can permanently change the
direction of their lives. Their mission is to support and strengthen the
community by serving youth and families through counseling, housing, education,
and advocacy. Bill Wilson Center serves over 10,000 clients in Santa Clara
County annually.
